Itinerary (click)

Day 1: SATURDAY: EN ROUTE
Depart the U.S. on your overnight flight to Casablanca.

Day 2: SUNDAY: CASABLANCA/RABAT
Morning arrival in Casablanca, meeting and assistance at the airport. On your orientation drive through this lively city, you'll view United Nations Square, the Royal Palace, the Medina and the Corniche, with its uninterrupted sweep of beaches, pools, and cafes.  Continue past the impressive seaside Hassan II Mosque. Then, drive to the Imperial "garden city" of Rabat; check-in to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: MONDAY: RABAT/MOULAY IDRISS/VOLUBILIS/MEKNES/FEZ
Morning tour in Rabat includes the Kasbah of the Oudayas, a former fortress, the walls of the Mechouar and Hassan Tower, the city's invariable symbol, magnificently situated on the crest of a hill. Visit Mohammed V's Mausoleum, housing the tomb of the late King, before continuing to the holy city of Moulay Idriss. Stop at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis before continuing to Meknes, surrounded by 25 miles of triple walls. See the monumental gates of Bab Mansour and the Mellah (Jewish Quarter). Drive to Fez for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: TUESDAY: FEZ
Full day sightseeing in Fez acquaints you with the oldest Imperial City. Visit the quaint medieval Medina, the Karaouine Mosque with its roof of emerald green tiles and the splendid Nejjarine Fountain. In the afternoon, walk along the winding cobblestone lanes of the bustling souk. Stop to see the Dyers Tannery-the view is amazing! Time for shopping and bargaining.

Day 5: WEDNESDAY: FEZ-MIDELT-ERFOUD
Depart Fez. Begin your journey back in time today on "The Kasbah Trail!" Drive through the Middle Atlas region via Azrou, standing at the edge of magnificent cedar forests, to the nature reserve of Midelt, with spectacular views of the dramatic peaks of the High Atlas Mountains. Continue to the desert village of Erfoud, starting point for excursions into the great sand dunes of the Sahara. Dinner at your hotel.

Day 6: THURSDAY: ERFOUD/RISSANI/MERZOUGA/ERFOUD
Drive to nearby Rissani, visit the Ksar Abbar ruins. In the late afternoon, journey by 4-wheel drive vehicle into the desert to witness one of the world's majestic sights -- the towering sand dunes of Merzouga as the sun sets on the Sahara. For those taking the Nomad Desert Camp option, you will spend the night in a tent in Merzouga, or you may return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 7: FRIDAY: ERFOUD-TODRA GORGES/OUARZAZATE
Depart Erfoud and drive through scenic dense palm groves to the inspiring Todra Gorges. Follow the banks of the river, driving through sheer towering walls of rock. Then, continue along the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Dades River Valley to Ouarzazate, where everything is calm beautiful and fresh - the image of the authentic south of Morocco where time has stood still for centuries. Stop in the rose village of El Kelaa before arriving in Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: SATURDAY: OUARZAZATE/ZAGORA/OUARZAZATE
Day at leisure, or take the full-day excursion (included) through the picturesque Draa Valley toward Zagora. to view the sunset before returning to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: SUNDAY: OUARZAZATE/AIT BEN HADDOU/MARRAKESH
Ouarzazate is the center of Morocco's film industry; many major motion pictures were filmed nearby. Visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an UNESCO Heritage Site, which you'll recognize from numerous films. Then, depart via the Tizin Tichka Pass of the Atlas Mountains to exotic Marrakesh.

Day 10: MONDAY: MARRAKESH
Sightseeing in this beautiful city includes the 16th century Saadian Tombs,  the fragrant Menara Gardens, the famous Koutoubia Minaret and the magnificent Bahia Palace with its extraordinary tiles, opulent courtyards and fountains built by Sultans amidst a two acre garden. Lunch at the hotel. Then, on to Djma-el-Fna Square, the heart of Marrakesh, where fortune tellers, acrobats, vendors, snake charmers and magicians put on a never-ending show.  Tonight, dinner at "Fantasia!"  Typical Moroccan food served in lavishly decorated tents, continuous music, local entertainers and a fabulous show.

Day 11: TUESDAY: EN ROUTE
Early departure to the airport for your connecting flight back to the U.S.

Day 11: & 12 - TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY: MARRAKESH
Breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Two days at leisure to explore on your own.
 
Day 13: THURSDAY: EN ROUTE
Early departure to the airport for your connecting flight back to the U.S.

 

END OF 11-NIGHT TOUR

Day 13: THURSDAY: MARRAKESH/ESSAOUIRA
Morning departure to the beautiful coastal city of Essaouira. Once Known as Mogador, this town has a distinct Portuguese influence, known for its gaily painted fishing boats, bastions and ramparts. Visit the charming port area and the medina with its Moorish-style outdoor cafes and Jewish Quarter.
 
Day 14: FRIDAY: ESSAOUIRA/SAFI/EL JADIDA/CASABLANCA
Depart Essaouira. Drive to the ancient port city of Safi; visit Dae El Bahr (Castle of the Sea), built in the 16th century, and Pottery Hill. Then, drive via the resort towns of Ouallidia and El Jadida to Casablanca. Dinner and overnight in Casablanca.

Day 15: SATURDAY: EN ROUTE
Morning transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
