Piedmont, CA – April 5, 2006 – It is better to give
than to receive and Thomas Talboy, founder of Ubiquity International,
the premier provider of unique cultural, historical and educational
travel experiences throughout the world, agrees wholeheartedly.
His distinctive, culturally-responsible travel business was created
with the global mission to pay it forward.
“Every time we visit a site, learn a language or examine with
our own eyes the art the world has produced, we are taking something
away with us. We are taking away a lifetime worth of experience that
we will never forget,” said Talboy, who through Ubiquity International
offers personalized itineraries to Florence, Naples, Pompeii, Paris,
Athens and the Greek Isles, Peru, Spain, Ireland and Northern Greece. “But
we cannot do this unless those organizations that support and
develop cultural heritage throughout the world are themselves
supported.”
When the company began in 2004, Talboy created the Ubiquity International
Cultural Heritage Program as a way of making a contribution to deserving
organizations or individuals. The program makes a portion of tour
profits available to entities both at home and abroad concerning
culture. The groups are hand-selected by Talboy on the basis of greatest
need and amount of impact the funding can have on a community or
culture, and include museums, cultural organizations, artists, archaeological
sites, architectural organizations, schools, churches, synagogues,
mosques, dramatic and language programs, and more.
“Ubiquity International believes that as we experience the
varied languages of the world, explore firsthand centuries of history,
and embrace the uniqueness of the many cultures that inhabit this
world, we must also be responsible in doing so,” explained
Talboy.
“Travelers can be proud that a part of their tour experience
is ultimately shared with these deserving cultural recipients,” said
Jeffery Faris, who handles business development. “We have made
donations to a variety of organizations,” these include:
• Archaeological Institute of America: North America's
oldest and largest organization devoted to the world of archaeology.
• American Philological
Association: The principal learned
society in North America for the study of ancient Greek and Roman
languages, literatures and civilizations.
• American School of Classical
Studies of Athens:
The primary resource in Greece for American scholars on the language,
literature, art, history, archaeology and philosophy of Greece
and the Greek world from pre-Hellenic times to the present.
• Archaeology Institute
of America:
North America's oldest and largest organization devoted to the
world of archaeology.
• Hellenic Cultural
Institute Central Coast California:
Explores the principles and ideals of Hellenism, and to promote
and preserve the Hellenistic Culture and heritage, past, present
and future.
• Isthmian Sacred landscape
Project: Affiliated
with Ohio State University Excavations, the project investigates
a series of buildings attached to the famous Greek sanctuary
of Isthmia, near Ancient Corinth.
• UNESCO World Heritage
Fund: Seeks
to encourage the identification, protection and preservation
of cultural and natural heritage around the world considered
to be of outstanding value to humanity.
“Corporate and cultural responsibility is very important and
very personal,” said Talboy. “Giving back makes you feel
like you’re a part of what you’re doing.”
